In the "The Forgotten" Julianne Moore is a grief stricken
mother who cannot forget her 9 years old son's death in a plane crash about
14 months ago while traveling to summer camp. She fails to believe other people
telling her that she never had a son and there was no accident. She has been
in a therapy ever since showing no signs of expected results.
One day she finds everything which belonged to her son disappeared from the
house. Her husband (Anthony Edwards) who has been shown not effected and her
shrink Dr. Jack Munce (Gary Sinise) deny that she ever had a son. They try to
make her understand that Sam is just a piece of the entire fabric of her imagination
which resulted from her miscarriage. After feeling being alienated by her own
husband she seeks company of a man in the Brooklyn neighborhood, Ash Correll.
He was a pro hockey player and is now is all time drunk and is him self fighting
the memories of his own daughter killed in the same plane crash. They decide
to team up to find the truth behind the whole mystery.
Now when Ash and Telly are on their way to find their children they are constantly
followed by a relentless NSA agent, a curious NYPD detective (Alfre Woodard),
and a mysterious man (Linus Roache) who seems to be with them like a shadow
everywhere they travel.
The performance of everyone in the movie is amazing especially Julianne Moore
who has been successful in setting new standards for herself. The role played
by Anthony Edwards is another stunning performance but may be a disappointment
to his fans as he does not have a lot of role in the movie.
The plot is a little complex and confusing where we see two sub plots been
forced to knit together. The first half of the movie is really thrilling, keeping
you on the edge of your seat and keeps you engaged. The ending is very absurd
and disappointing, but not that heart breaking. It has never got boring or slackens
the grip. The movie is full of chases, fights and action. It is worth a look
by Moore's biggest fans, as well as fonder of nail biting thrillers. It's simply
going to keep you guessing and entertained.
