Jack Armstrong (Anthony Mackie) is a successful young black VP for a drug producing
film called Progeia. Jack is fired when he rejects to be a part of a dirty business
any more. His funds are frozen by Progeia's CEO (Woody Harrelson) and he is
blacklisted. He is not able to find any other job in his field. He has no access
to money at all and one day he meets his ex- fiancée Fatima (Kerry Washington)
who has some quick money making idea.
Fatima is now living with another woman Alex (Dania Ramirez). Their relationship
ended when Jack last saw Fatima in bed with another woman. This couple has decided
to have children of their own. They have been unable and unwilling to adopt
a child and don't trust sperm banks describing the sperm banks "it's like
shopping for Gucci at Wal-Mart." Now that Fatima has found Jack, they want
Jack to father their babies. They also offer Jack10,000 from each if Jack is
able to impregnate them. After a great deal of convincing, Jack agrees. Jack
is strong and intelligent, and soon he finds small armies of women lining up
outside his Manhattan digs.
"She hate me" has overflowing messages. It is like the movie
is trying to hit in different direction and missing all of them one by one.
According to me Lee has a lot to say about corporate greed and AIDS in Africa
and Watergate and the exploitation of black males. In fact he has so much to
talk about in the movie that it is difficult to understand that what he is getting
at. Firstly the movie seems to be focused but soon it starts it becomes stereotype
and the plot scatters. Lee is talented; he could do a lot better to make it
look good.
