We will never be able to forgive ourselves if at all we survive the onslaught of nature on the mankind.
The pollution that we are contributing to the world is risking the life and health of our future generations. All this because of a few wealthy nations who can’t or rather do not want to cut off their emissions below the set targets.
The Americans and Australians are disputing global warming theory just like any other thing and say that this is a cyclical law of nature. But there have been changes over the years and at least for me they have been significant. The recent melting of “Siberia Peat Bog” is a very significant case here. It has vast storage of methane beneath it and as we know, methane has 20 times more global warming effect as compared to carbon-di-oxide. Imagine all of this released in the atmosphere and not one of us will have a single place to save ourselves from the melting waters. Even in that case, US would be very happy because the melting of water and the heating of atmosphere would decrease the cost of mining their Alaska oil reserves though the whole global economy could go in shambles. This tampering with the greenhouse gases would change everything. Imagine countries like Holland submerging because of other countries’ faults. There could be flood in low lying countries and some countries may not even blink because it is not their people who are dying but we are forgetting a very simple fact that we all use the same oxygen. Any problem in the water resources in any part of the world may effect some other part of the world if its not effectively controlled.
But what can the consumers do in this case? Only they have the power to do something. Why do we buy those things that are made by those companies that are the worst pollutant in the world? We say so much about the consumer right but when it actually comes to using it, we take a backseat. Consumer right is not only about fighting for your own rights but also to make world a safer and healthier place to live. We would have to blame ourselves only for the life that we could face after 30 years.
God has not given any race the right to make extinct another race or even specie but we have acquired that right and the consequences will be disastrous and we need to be prepared for that. The choice is in our hands.
