There are some general ideas and guidelines.

The use of essential oils spread rapidly by the 12th century and was introduced to the U.S. by the French. In 1928, the term, Aromatherapy, was coined by the French chemist Rene-Maurie Gattefosse.

The use of pure essential oils is an art and science; essential oils are extracted from several parts of natural botanicals for wellness of the body, mind and spirit.

Essential oils are the essence of the plants from herbs, to flower and spice. They are not to be confused with fragrance oils. Essential oils are derived from plants, fragrance oils are artificial fragrances which sometime may contain synthetic substances and fail to offer the therapeutic benefits that essential oils offer.
