Rime of the Ancient Mariner E-book Author: Samuel Taylor Coleridge Genre: Literature, Poetry
Coleridge, Samuel Taylor (1772-1834) - English poet, essayist, and critic.
Known as a brilliant conversationalist and the most perceptive critic of
his day, Coleridge left only a small body of work to preserve his genius.
Rime of the Ancient Mariner (1798) - Coleridge's most popular poem tells of
a sailor who commits a motiveless crime by killing a friendly albatross,
a bird of good omen, and is thereafter pursued by death. The mariner tells
his story to a man who was on his way to a wedding.
