Rossetti, Christina Georgina (1830-1894) - English poet of Italian descent
known for her ballads and mystic lyrics. Rossetti wrote over nine hundred
poems in her lifetime and, despite the fact that she wrote nothing so
well-known as Mrs. Browning's "Songs from the Portuguese," many consider
her the finest and most accomplished of all English women poets.
