Hubbard, Elbert (1856-1915) - American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, and
intense individualist. Hubbard and his wife went down with the Lusitania.
Message to Garcia (1899) - This short inspirational essay was originally
published in the Philistine Magazine for March, 1899; was then done into a
booklet by the Roycrofters; and in the same year was published as part of
New York Central's "Four-Track Series" of books of travel. Before the close
of 1899 it was printed more than six million times.
