Alcott, Louisa May (1832-1888) - American author whose semi-autobiographical
novels became children's classics. She was one of the most popular writers
of her time.
Little Women (1868) - One of the most renowned of all American novels, it
tells the story of the life of Jo March and her three sisters -- Meg, Beth,
and Amy. Alcott wrote two sequels to this book which is said to be based
on her own family life in Concord, Massachusetts.
