Born Hyde Park, New York. New York State Senator (1910-1913)
and Assistant Secretary of the Navy (1913-1920). Contracted
Polio (1921). Governor of New York (1928-1932). President of
the United States ((1933-1945). Introduced his "New Deal"
policy in an attempt to take America out of the Great Depression.
Guided the country through the World War II years from Pearl
Harbor until his death three weeks before the German surrender.

Along with FDR's "Day of Infamy" speech following Pearl Harbor, his
Inaugural Address at the start of his first term during the Great
Depression is among his most memorable. FDR begins with the famous
words: "So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the
only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
