Thomas a Kempis (1379-1471) - German religious writer and Augustinian monk.
Thomas (whose name means "Thomas from Kempen") is famed as the writer of
the devotional book "The Imitation of Christ."
The Imitation of Christ (1415) - This book is said to have had more
influence on Christianity than any work other than the Bible. Written simply
and from the heart, its structure owes largely to the writings of the
medieval mystics. Its exact date and authorship are still matters of debate.
