Seeger, Alan (1888- 1916) - American poet who provided the voice of the
idealistic youth and soldier of his era. At the outbreak of World War I,
Seeger enlisted in the French Foreign Legion and was killed in action.
I Have a Rendezvous with Death (1916) - Seeger's best-known poem predicted
his own death at the hands of German machine gun fire in the village of
