Thucydides (460 BC-400 BC) - A Greek historian known as the first critical
historian. As an Athenian General he was assigned to protect the city of
Amphilpolis but failed and was exiled for over twenty years.
History of the Peloponnesian War (431 BC) - Written during Thucydides'
exile, it is an unfinished account dating from the early history of the
Hellenic people through 411 BC. This work is ranked as one of the greatest
histories of ancient times.
