George Sand: Some Aspects of her Life and Writings (1910)
Translated by Alys Hallard, this is Rene Doumic's admirable
biography of the woman novelist who used the pen name, George Sand
(1804-1876). The biography is drawn from previous studies and
private letters. Born in Paris as Lucile Aurore Dupin, Sand later
became Baronne Dudevant. For nearly half a century, Sand wrote
every day of her life and produced about 100 volumes of novels and
stories, four autobiographies, and six volumes of correspondence.
