Ethan Frome (1911) - The story of a poor man, Ethan Frome, who is married
to a whiny wife. Ethan and his wife's cousin fall in love then try to end
their hapless romance by steering their sled into a tree. Because it deals
with the lower class, this may be Wharton's least typical novel.
