Discourse on Metaphysics E-book Author: Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Genre: Philosophy, Religion / Mythology / Sacred
Leibniz, Gottfried Wilhelm(1646-1716) German philosopher, historian,
mathematician, scientist, and diplomat who developed a philosophy of
rationalism which attempted to reconcile matter and spirit.
Discourse on Metaphysics (translated 1846)
A series of logical, and controversial theological arguments that
Leibniz prudently chose not to publish during his lifetime. They
assert the existence of a divine perfection and the perfection of
creation. It is this "best of all possible worlds" that Voltaire
satirizes in Candide. He also writes of the grace of God, His
intervention in the world, and the truths revealed by Jesus Christ.
