Webster, Jean (1876-1916) American writer of juvenile novels and
grandniece of Mark Twain. Wrote the story collection for girls
entitled When Patty Went to College (1903) and Just Patty (1911).
Daddy-Long-Legs (1912), her most famous work, was followed by a
sequel, Dear Enemy (1915).

Daddy-Long-Legs, is a humorous, sentimental tale about the progress
of a charming young lady named Jerusha (Judy) Abbott, the oldest of
97 orphanage children. The story unfolds through a series of
letters sent to a certain Mr. Daddy-Long-Legs.
