Code of Hammurabi (Babylonian) (1790-1750 BC) - Comprehensive laws
developed by Hammurabi, King of Babylon. This is the first
cohesive set of laws we know of. Much of Roman law, and therefore
current law, was derived from this code. It is here we first read of
'An eye for an eye,' the Lex Talionis.
