Lucy Maud Montgomery (1873-1942) Canadian writer of novels for girls.
Born Prince Edward Island. Works include the extremely successful Anne
of Green Gables (1908), and six sequels beginning with Anne of
Avonlea (1909). Montgomery also wrote Magic for Marigold (1929)
and ten volumes of diaries (1889-1942).

Anne of Avonlea is the sequel to Lucy M. Montgomery's Anne of Green
Gables. In this volume, Anne becomes a teacher near Green Gables
and has a romance with a childhood friend.
