Year of the Dragon Review
It seems Dieter Bohlen has been experimenting with different sounds since Modern Talking's comeback album "Back For Good" in 1998. You definitely hear that in this album, "Year of the Dragon." I've been listening to Modern Talking's music since the duo's first album, so I prefer their earlier music, particularly the First Album. But, I do appreciate the groups' efforts on "Year of the Dragon." My favorite song on this album is "My Lonely Girl." A GREAT club song! "Cosmic Girl" is a also another very dancable track. Some people have compared "No Face, No Name, No Number" with Ricky Martin's tunes, but Thomas Ander's voice has incredible depth and range, which gives the song originality and power. "Walking in the Rain of Paris" is rather different from Modern Talking's usual fare, but I really like it. This song exhibits Ander's vocals very well. If you're a Modern Talking fan, definitely add this to your collection for the songs I talked about. If you've never heard of Modern Talking before, check out "The First Album." It remains the best of their albums for me.
Another Hit Album by The German Boys (Modern Talking)
No.3 position, in the German official album chart (Media Control), was wide-open waiting for these two well recognized faces Dieter Bohlen and Thomas Anders to occupy the spot by their "The Year of The Dragon" album in its first week of release. Despite of the fact that the act sold 20 million copies world-wide after their 1998 resurrection, Dieter Bohlen, the producer and the composer of Modern Talking had to make another hit album to kick everybody off the charts. However, unlike their previous albums, with the help of "The Year of The Dragon" album, Dieter Bohlen proves once again his unique composing talent by flying Modern Talking not only over the Techno Trance floors with tracks like "Cosmic Girl" and "Part Time Lover" but also leaving everybody amazingly shocked with the latin flavored track called "No Face No Name No Number". While Bohlen keeps himself busy by breaking the charts, Anders makes sure that Modern Talking stays absolutely uncompeteable by singing the lines with his well recognized, elecrifying voice.
Year Of The Dragon 2000 (the best MT album)

01 China In Her Eyes [Hit-Single]
02 Don't Take Away My Heart [Hit-Single]
04 Cosmic Girl [dynamic]
05 After Your Love Is Gone
07 My Lonely Girl [a masterpiece!]
08 No Face No Name No Number [latin style]
10 Part Time Lover [dance]
11 Time Is On My Side [my favourite]
12 I'll Never Fall In Love Again [a good ballad]
14 I'm Not Guilty
16 Walking In The Rain Of Paris [a little jazzy]
Yes, it's their best 20th century album!!!
Germany Britney Spears and N Sync
Modern Talking has never been a sophisticated synth pop nor do they intend to be but their early efforts provide them a good place and respect in the eurodance groups scale. I think the problem with this album is the large amount of songs that it has. It would have been a better album or EP if they kept the only 5 good (not excellent) dance songs it contains. The album is very repetitive and it seems like the MT guys only had a drum machine with 2 patterns because is the same pattern in all the songs. Even if they selected only 5 songs this songs are dance songs that except from China in her eyes and Fly to the moon will make you dance but inmediately after will be forgiven. Nothing remarkable or trend setting. I'm sorry but this songs are just like listening to Christina Aguilera, Britnet Spears and all the other many teen and bubble gum groups out there.
