U.S.S.R. Life From the Other Side Reviews
Good CD
Very Good album, features underground mc's from all over. Defi netely worth a listen, But you must listen a couple of times all the way through.
A triumph
What an album, fantastic rhyming combined with what I see as UNGODLY beats, good GOOD stuff..
real uncut hip hop
Sleep if you must, but Yo, this CD is phat. It's one of those that has to grow on you if you're not used to styles comin' from all over. I am and I'm glad to put money on something that keeps you thinking that this ain't your "average hip hoppa". It's good to know that tight beats and lyrics have gone WORLDWIDE!
Not as dark, chaotic, and surprising as USSR Repertoire...
USSR Repertoire is one of my favorite albums, raw and dense with beautiful texture -- as I listen to it, I imagine a gloomy prowl through a shadowy terrain of urban back streets. There was also a sense of loneliness and existential questioning in many of the tracks ("Who the Hell Am I?" .. one of my favorites). This new one I'm having a little trouble getting used to -- it's much more conventional, more polished, with a lot of collaborative efforts that result in a less consistent mood. This is definitely an interesting album, but I suggest you get USSR Repertoire first, and listen to it several times back to back (you won't "get it" the first couple of times).
