This takes the passion right out of U2...It is a BAD tribute
As a veteran die-hard U2 fan of over almost 20 years; all I had to do was listen to the previews provided here by Amazon.com. This is a tribute that puts the real passion behind Bono's voice and the U2 lyrics to shame. They REALLY KILLED the songs. Most of all they made my skin crawl to even here the ways they sang the songs. My all time fave U2 song "With or Without You" when Bono sings it brings tears to my eyes his voice is so beautiful. This guy on this tribute did the same; it was tears of pain and my ears hurt too. This is a BAD tribute. No pun intended using the word "BAD" which of course die hard U2 fans know is a U2 song. Please do not for the love of U2 buy this recording. It is not at all worth it.
The Almost Forgettable Tribute
I am a huge supporter of tribute albums, I even stick up for alot of the half bad ones, but in this case it's different. This CD was unsatisfying in the fact that most songs sound the same or follow the same boring pop routine. For a compilation that is by 'various artists', it's best that the CD offers a little variety, but that's not the case with this. I do not know who 'Kyle' or 'David Hay' is, but they took up more than half of the record with boring, bland renditions of classic U2 hits. They pretty much ruined the CD, because the other 4 artists on this disc put out a far better effort then they did. 'Vee's Alice Deejay-ish dance version of "New Years Day" was near incredible, same with 'E Clypse's Lilith Fair-esque cover of "One", as well 'We Three's mellow acoustic rendition of "All I Want Is You". Had the CD done without 'Kyle & David Hay', and had more artists like the previous mentioned tracks, this CD could have been something really special. Still, if you are a big U2 fan or you have the money to spend, buy it mainly for track #2 "Vee - New Years Day", the song itself deserves 5 stars.
