Tamar Reviews

toni let us know your secrets.....
Dreamworks records has released probably the hottest talent that will be around for a long time. Featured with a unique name, but a familiar last name, new and upcoming diva tamar (TAY-mar) braxton, the 21 year old younger sister of reigning pop icon toni has released her self titled debut album, and in my eyes, it is going to be a great success. Not many artists that are not already discovered have a voice this powerful, and I don't think that anybody will in the near future.

Her debut album is nothing shy of a classic. Featuring the hot singles, that have already blazed urban radio stations "get none" featuring atlanta based record producer jermaine dupri, and the newest female rapper in the game the jay-z found amil. The track is a hip hop kind of track, one that makes her voice sound great. Now for the a ballad, the traditional braxton ballads. Tamar, may sound a bit like toni, but she shows a style of her own by laying down her smooth voice over a nice mellow beat on the untouchable "if you don't wanna love me". Why slow down there? Well...........she doesn't.

The rest of the album can already match the singles, including the blazing ballad "miss your kiss". Probably the best track on the album. Other hot tracks include the up beat "your room", the beautiful "once again", and who could forget the sexy "money can't buy you love". Tamar can't be touched on songs like these, and the rest of the tracks as well. She is easily the hottest talent to come out of the dreamworks recod lable this year.

But when you have hot tracks, why don't all of them make the album? This is a good question for her ballad with Sam Salter entitled "call me" didn't make the cut, as didn't "let him go" a amazing song with a guest appearance from female rapper Sole'. Where did these tracks go? I hope that they didn't hit the cutting room floor, and that they will appear on the next album, because to cut an album with hot tracks, and then not allow some of the tracks to appear, is pointless. Shame on the producer for cutting them.

Pick up the album though because I think that anyone that gives young tamar a chance will indeed like what they hear, because for all the people that I know with this record, nobody can even say a bad thing about it, I think that toni should share her "secrets", and one of her most amazing secrets would have to be her lil sis.

This the best album from a Braxton this year
This cd is the best ever it has fast song slow ones and ones that all boys need to hear before they get married the music is so good get none, tonight, your room,no disrespect, money can't buy you love, get mine and I'll tell you why get none is nice to listen to with the beat and tamar voice going at different ranges of her voices on different part's of this song and get mine is so devilsh with what's she saying as long as I get mine it really don't matter to me that's so wrong but she makes it seems like is so right and humble then No disrespect is just so good because she asking they she be treated with respect and don't treat her like anyone you known before because she's different and that's why I love this cd because she talks about these things that I feel but just can never put into words when it comes time to say what I feel and it makes me understand different situations in life and maybe how I should react that's why this cd get five stars because is just so right to buy this if you don't like the song just listen to what she's saying.

Seriously overlooked R
There aren't too many CDs out these days that you just wish received more airplay and praise. This is definitely one of those CDs!! Tamar has definitely grown from her stint with her sisters in the group The Braxtons, and has proven that she is a standout in her own right.

Much before the duet with R&B group Silk ("Don't Go" on Silk's Love Sessions) and her powerful delivery of "Try Me" on the Kingdon Come soundtrack, she put out this wonderful collection of songs. I must say that she has strong voice that can be a force to be reckoned with if promoted more.

The faster songs on this album don't do it too much for me, but there are some decent ones. "Your Room" is a decent song that showcases some of her vocals, as well as the Missy Elliott produced "No Disrespect", that should have definitely been a club banger with its catchy lyrics and irresistable beat.

Tamar's voice is prominently featured more on the slower numbers, which come in many styles. Many people may remember her most for her song "If You Don't Wanna Love Me", which is probably the best song on the album. Her delivery here is nothing short of spectacular. On "Money Can't Buy You Love", she shows you that she's not kidding around when she effortlessly goes into one of those coloratura notes (the "Mariah Carey" notes) while singing some serious lines with excellent harmony. "Once Again" is a brilliant song with nice lyrics. "I'm Over You" has to be the second-best song on this album. While the title is self-explanatory, Tamar delivers it as if she is going through it right when you listen to it! I mean, just excellent. And the final ballad, "Miss Your Kiss", will definitely have you hitting the repeat button.

Like I mentioned before, some of the faster songs just don't do it for me at all. "Get Mine" is just something that was thrown on there for effect, as is "Can't Nobody". "The Way It Should Be" is just a hot mess in 100 degree heat and is totally hard to even attempt to try to like. Mess!

Overall, the album is a decent one. If you're like me and you like hearing from powerful voices that need more airplay, pick this one up. You're won't be disappointed.
This CD is really nice. I wish it was promoted more and Tamar got the credit she deserves. She really can sing. People always says that she is trying to sound like her sister Toni. Hello!!! They're sisters! They don't sound exactly alike but you can hear the similarities in their voices. Tamar is the bomb.

B gem!!
This is one of my favorite CDs of all time! Since the day I got it, the only time it has left my CD player at home was to be played in my car. Tamar has an unparalleled voice and enormous talent that surpasses that of many other female singers. She has an extraordinary range that absolutely blew me away. Some highlights are: "If You Don't Wanna Love Me" which is the new "Not Gon' Cry" ballad for scorned women everywhere; on this same note is "I'm Over You" which an empowering TAKE THAT to bad boyfriends; and "Once Again" in which she sings about learning from the past and using these lessons in the present. I recommend this CD to everybody! It's too bad her record company didn't do a better job marketing this and getting it on the radio because many people are really missing out. I just hope I'll have another Tamar CD to rate one day (hint, Tamar!!)....
