Overdose Reviews
Solid Release FromThese Hunter's Point Players
This CD represented the S.F. (or Sucka Free) to the fullest. THere were a few tracks I wasnot quite feeling, but plenty of them were on point. Contrary to what I have heard, I thought the beats were good. THey had a hard edge to them which was typical of the Killahoe, H.P. rap movement. I liked Tataday and Hennesey's flow. On a few occasions they brought an intermittent, stressed rhythmic flow which I liked. Yo' Town Is Mine is a great example of this. I really like the hardcore beats and lyrics furnished by this group in the songs Scocious (featuring Black C from RBL), Str8 Game, and Pimpin Ain't Easy. Parking Lot Pimpin' had a softer beat to it which seemed like it was trying to duplicate Garcia Vegas, but it did not detract from the album too much. I loved the laid back feel to VIPz. It reminded me of My Hoe's Name Is Nina from A-1 Yola. This is not a must-have, but any rap fan who does not pick this up will be missing something great. These guys need the comercial success they deserve.
Solid Release FromThese Hunter's Point Players
These guys really represent the S.F. (or Sucka Free) to the fullest extent. There were a few tracks I was not feeling, but the majority of this album was tight. Contrary to what I have heard other's say, I thought the beats came with a hard edge, typical of the Killahoe, H.P. rap movement. The delivery from Hennessy and Tataday was good, with some choppy, stressed rhythmic flows on a few songs, which I liked. Yo' Town is Mine was a great example of this. Parking Lot Pimpin' a lighter beat and a bit mediocre as it seemed they tried to duplicate Garcia Vegas. Though this does not detract from the album too much. I enjoyed Scocious, VIPz, Str8 Game, and especially Pimpin' Ain't Easy. This album is not a must-have, but any rap fan that does not pick this up will be missing something great. These guys really need to get the commercial success they deserve.
Pretty Strong Effort By These Hunter's Point Rappers
Quite a good CD which puts out the Killahoe style for maximum bumping. Had a couple of tracks which were not quite on point, but plenty more were. VIPz, Scocoius, Str8 Game and Pimpin Aint Easy all came with mad heat, as did Yo' Town is Mine. I've heard people say they weren't feeling the beats, but they came with a hard edge to most of them. Parking Lot Pimping was a bit lighter, with a feel like the classic Garcia Vegas. Their delivery was great, and a guest feature from Black-C from RBL was indeed a treat. This is not a must, but any rap fan who does not pick this up is definitely missing something really big. It was a solid album from a group that remains high on my favorite list.
