My Review for: Now 11
Another good Now CD this is, folks! Onto the trax!
1. Nelly- Hot In Herre (5/5) Awsome summer hit from 2002!! I never get tired of it.
2. N.O.R.E. featuring Pharrel Willams- Nothin' (5/5) Probably my favorite track on da album! I actually thought that Nas was doing the chorus at first. LOL. Pharrel's too good.
3. Eve featuring Alicia Keys- Gangsta Lovin' (4/5) A very overplayed hit of summer 2002, but, still good.
4. Beenie Man featuring Janet- Feel It Boy (4/5) Again, overplayed. Still ok thoh.
5. Dirty Vegas- Days Go By (5/5) Again, overplayed on both car commercials and on radio, but, i never got tired of it. Luv dis 1! Too bad they were one hit wonders, anyway...
6. Kylie Minouge- Love At First Sight (4/5) OK tune from Kylie, but, nowhere near as good as Can't Get You Outta My Head.
7. Shakira- Objection (Tango) (5/5) A funny tune from that fine Shakira. One of da best on here.
8. No Doubt featuring Lady Saw- Underneath It All (3/5) WAY too overplayed in late 2002 and eary 2003. It got pretty boring.
9. Jennifer Love Hewit- Barenaked (4/5) Wow, im surprised they put her on! Wasnt a hit, sadly, but, Jennifer does a good job at singing.
10. Vanessa Carlton- Ordinary Day (5/5) GREAT SONG FROM VANESSA!! Shes pretty, and, this was huge for her. Shes a 2-hit wonder, for now.
11. Dixie Chicks- Landslide (4/5) Its cool that they put this on, actually. Good remke, and, a less acoustic beat, which is good.
12. Aaliyah- I Care 4 U (5/5) Pretty song by the late, great Aaliyah, but, not her best.
13. Ginuwine- Stingy (5/5) Luv dis 1 too!! Overplayed, once again, but, awsome from Ginuwine.
14. Norah Jones- Don't Know Why (4/5) Now, I wouldnt say Norah Jones is overrated, but, I hear this WAY too much on music channels on TV.
15. Chad Kroger featuring Josey Scott- Hero (5/5) Ooh, one of the best too. AWSOME song for a duet from 2 of the lead singers from some of the greatest new metal rock pop bands now. Good ballad, and, a perfect way to put this in the Spiderman movie.
16. Hoobastank- Running Away (4/5) OK song by Hoobastank. I got pretty tired of this. The Reason, Out of Control, and Crawling In The Dark are better, anywayz.
17. Coldplay- In My Place (4/5) Good song by Coldplay. I like Clocks betta.
18. Creed- One Last Breath (5/5) Again, overplayed. I still love it tho. I luv Creed, everyone loves these guys! Im so sad that they broke up.
19. Our Lady Peace- Somewhere Out There (5/5) Our Lady Peace are so good. I wonder if they will come out wit somethin new, tho.
20. Bon Jovi- Everyday (5/5) Awsome song by the most popular 80s rock band! Almost as good as Its My Life!
OK, hope u all enjoyed it. BUY THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I review: NOW 11
NOW 11:
1. Nelly, Hot In Herre: So annoying it makes me want to kill Nelly with passion, and kill whoever wrote the lyrics with even MORE passion. F+
2. N.O.R.E., Nothin': Gets old after a while, but there really isn't anything to hate. B-
3. Alicia Keys & Eve, Gangsta Lovin': Falls flat fast. Alicia, please don't try this again. C-
4. Beenie Men & Janet, Feel It Boy: Decent party tune with a nice beat, but won't really make you go "wow". A strong B-
5. Dirty Vegas, Days Go By: Repetitive, but half-decent techno tune. B-
6. Kylie Minogue, Love At First Sight: A tune so incredibly sugary, it sounds like IT should be the one with the IM speak title. B-
7. Shakira, Objection: Don't play this too much, or it'll torture you forever and ever and ever and ever. Standalone, though, it really isn't THAT bad. C
8. No Doubt, Underneath It All: Rock Steady is pathetic compared to Tragic Kingdom, but this is good once in a while. B
9. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Bare Naked: Good one-hit wonder tune. The chorus isn't that great, but it's still very likable. Just nothing to write home about. A strong B
10. Vanessa Carlton, Ordinary Day: Wonderful. It has a very majestic feel to it and... wow I love this track. A
11. Dixie Chicks, Landslide: And people thought a country cover of Stevie Nix's classic wouldn't work... A
12. Aaliyah, I Care 4U: Great, mellow, almost downright melancholy tune that impresses very much. A strong B+
13. Ginuwine, Stingy: Why did you have to go and mediocre things up? C-
14. Norah Jones, Don't Know Why: So mellow it's sleepy. Good song in the car at night, and very charming. A-
15. Chad Kroeger & Joesy Scott, Hero: While I dislike Kroeger's voice, it's still a good song. B+
16. Hoobastank, Running Away: Gets old with time, but decent. Like the strangely California sounding chorus. B
17. Coldplay, In My Place: GENIUS. A
18. Creed, One Last Breath: Gets old really fast. Not TOO bad, but a bit on the forgettable side. C+
19. Our Lady Peace, Somewhere Out There: Grown on me a WHOLE lot. Very nice. A-
20. Bon Jovi, Everyday: And where did THIS come from? Silly Bon Jovi, the new millenium's for kids. C-
-The Good: Vanessa Carlton, Dixie Chicks, Norah Jones, Coldplay, Our Lady Peace
-The Bad: Nelly, Alicia Keys & Eve, Bon Jovi
-Overall: One of the best NOW's there is, particularly once it hits the double-digit tracks.
What's the Now That's What I Call Music series got to do with a year like 2002? Sure, the biggies--from Nelly to No Doubt--rode new hit material that's featured here. But during the same year, piano-playing wunderkind Norah Jones wowed listeners with a mellow new marriage of pop and jazz. And the Dixie Chicks closed out a long legal battle and presented a down-home traditional country record that topped the charts. Now 11 is the CD equivalent of a mix tape that bounces from big, urban beats and rhymes to laid-back electro-pop chill to coolly groundbreaking piano-driven melodies. Norah, the Chicks, and Coldplay all push Now in a more adult-oriented direction, one where beats take a backseat to acoustic instrumentation and sincere lyrics. Then there's the notably sultry, full-blossomed "I Care 4 U" from Aaliyah, which stands as a fine tribute to the late singer. --Andrew Bartlett
