Mouthful Of Love Reviews

Rock'n roll baby!
Mouthful of love is a great up tempo rock'n roll record. It's like Meat Loaf meets AC/DC. The male and female vocals are great and the guitar riffs sounds like AC/DC. The 80's are back!
Get the record: you will not be disappointed!

Shake Your Money Maker
Like a lot of cool bands now, such as The Secret Machines, this band is from Texas. I caught this band live last year as an opener for Electric Six. They were actually nothing like that. They had more in common with The Darkness and The Datsuns. That means they are more into AC/DC that one would expect. The song "Mouthful of Love" is a full on burst of pure rock and roll. They have some relationship with that other band from Austin, Trail of Dead. They sound like many rock and roll bands except that they have two vocalists, male and female, Chris Hodge and Jennifer Stephens. "Starlite" starts out with the sound of The Who. The songs of Young Heart Attack are about having fun, pleasure, and taking life to the edge. This is about having a good time. Listening to this loud embraces the sonic power of rock.

Misty Rowe would be proud and shakin' her Daisys!
If a high-energy movie comedy about high school/college stoners was being made (think a modern-day "Dazed and Confused", "Animal House", etc.), this band would be the first I'd pick and NOT any emo or faux punk stuff--at first listen these songs made me feel young again, like I was listening to Cheap Trick back in high school when "In Color" first hit the streets--the dual high-pitched (but semi-sweet, nasty and clear as Hell's bells) male/female vocals are a treat, the keyboards are just right and the guitarist is a MADMAN! My only suggestion for the next album is that the songs' structures could be tightened up a bit (probably by a more experienced producer), but for this, their 1st album, at least half the songs are bona-fide keepers and when is the last time you've said THAT about a record?

Rock and Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Young Heart Attack - Mouthful of Love

For their first album YHA really have pulled out all the stops because this really is one hell of a rock'n'roll roller coaster of an album. YHA hail from Texas and when listening to their album you really do get the feel that effortless Texan swagger.

One of the things that makes YHA so unique is that they have both a male and female vocalist. Instead of one singing half the songs and the other the other half, they take turns within most of the songs. Almost as if they are competing all the way through the song to see who can make the best rock and roll screeches. The end result is barrages of ferocious all-out rock songs such as "Over and Over" and "Starlite" which are quite simply brilliant.

Although the singles such as Tommy shots and Mouthful of love give the impression YHA is just a full out rock as hard as you can band. They also make sure you know they can kick back and slow it right down through songs such as the superb Mary Jane. Hopefully YHA will be around for a long time to come as they are exactly the kick up the back side rock and roll so badly needs. They have certainly set the benchmark high for their next album to live up to, but with what seems to be such an effortless and cracking album I believe they will.

If you like The Datsuns, The Darkness or Jet's debut efforts you will love this.

YOUNG ROCK ATTACK!
