Mack 10 Reviews

A Strong First Album
The debut album of Mack 10 was above average. At that time Mack 10 had more emotion (usually anger) to his work. We all know the classic "Foe Life". The best track was "Westside Slaughterhouse" f/ Ice Cube, and WC. Cube spits out the imfamouse chorus, "They been rappin' since the 70's and still never went gold." With this track let people know that there was a fueling beef between the East Coast and West Coast. There are some weaknesses to this album but its mostly due to the oversampling, and the shotty production towards the end of the album. When I heard the album the better tracks were produced by Ice Cube and the 88x Unit. There are some other good tracks like "Mozi-Wozi", "Chicken Hawk", and my other personal favorite "H-O-E-K". This album by Mack 10 was probably the best; before Mack 10 lost his fire in this rap game.

Mack 10's most impressive rapping and nice hardcore beats.
Before Mack 10 was tempted by money and commercial success, he certainly could kick some dope rhymes. His debut had a couple weaknesses but is mostly quite good. The hit single "Foe Life" was an instant club hit, and was produced by Ice Cube with a funky saxophone loop and Mack 10 introducing himself to the world. "Wanted Dead" is also a classic gangsta track with a late night sort of feel to it, and Mack 10 tears this song up. "On Them Things" is kind of an abrasive track but sounds really good, and has the standard gangsta sound to it. "Chickenhawk" is another tight track with booming bass and some funky vocals. "Here Comes The G" is an absolute classic, with a nice, funky bounce and laid-back feel. Mack also tore this song up. "Westside Slaughterhouse" also is a classic, and features WC and Ice Cube, and Cube takes a shot at Common Sense to spark the beef they had (Common lyrically obliterated Ice Cube). WC also had some of the coldest battle lines on this vicious track. Also, there are some nice tracks like "Armed And Dangerous" which has a neighborhood, summertime feel to it, and "Mozi-Wozi" is a nice sex track, about a hotel with a nice, slow beat added to it. "Mack Ten's The Name" is Mack 10 telling all fakes in the game that they better change their name to Mack 11 because Mack 10 is HIS name. Also, Kay-Dee connects with Mack very nicely on "H.O.E.K.", another good track about females. There are a couple pointless interludes, and one extremely wack song in "Ten Million Ways" which has a repeatitive and boring beat and hook. That lowers the overall rating but still this is a worthy and impressive debut. Excellent production came from Ice Cube, Rhythm D, and others.

This is definitely an album to buy if you like Mack 10, or even if you hate his new music, you have to give credit to this as a worthy listen. Mack 10 slowly evolved into a more commercial artist and his hunger and creativity seemed to leave along with it, but he was in top form on his self-titled debut, his finest hour. I recommend this.

A Must Have Album!
This is probably one of the best albums in the world. Any album that has "Foe Life" makes it a must-have album. Next to "foe Life" the best songs are Westside Slaughterhouse, and Wanted Dead. There is NO reason not to pick up this album, I suggest it to all gangsta/Westcoast rap fans.

Lyrics: 10/10 Beats: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

MACK 10 IS SORRY
HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE A BRAND BUT DON'T PUT ANY OF HIS BRAND HOMIES ON.HE GET NO RESPECT IN THE GAME. I KNOW IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY AND THAT'S GOOD.ANYWAYZ A'S UP CUZZ.

A little soft, but still good
Mack 10 didnt push the limits like he did on his other CD's. I am not sayin he went pop or anythign, far from it, just that he wasent hardcore on this cd. The intro is great, and Foe Life and slaughter house are great tracks. I recommend this cd for sure, just his more recent albums are more gangsta.
