Longest Line Reviews

The Longest Line Review by NOFX on the Web!
The Longest Line introduced the versatile guitar, trumpet, vocal, and lyrical talents of El Hefe - the manic Hispanic. El Hefe replaced Dave Cassilas on lead guitar to round out the NOFX line up (in more ways than one).

El Hefe debuts on this album with the song "Kill All the White Man." It's a very simple and straight forward song about the Mexican minorities! It's pretty hilarious. More serious tracks are on this CD however, such as Remnants and Death of John Smith.

This is definitely one of NOFX's better albums with the only problem being that it's too short. The reason it is so short is that they were in the middle of making White Trash, Two Heebs and a Bean and had just finished Ribbed... they also made it to introduce the talents of El Hefe... they were really stoked to have him join the band.

The sound of this album ranges from the fast and furious sound of Remnants to the slower parts of The Death of John Smith and Kill All the White Man. Additional background vocals on this album come from Joey Cape of Lagwagon (which song, I'm not sure)... definitely worth checking out.

Here's what NOFX has to say on this album:

On Life - "Life's too short to just barely exist" - Remnants

On Love - "Don't be fooled by teardrops, they're worth 1,000 lies" - Stranded

Overall, this is a great disc. And... it's cheaper than the other ones too! Go pick it up and play it over and over again! 100% NOFX at it's best!

Rating:9/10.

Solid
This is an all around great cd, with four awsome songs that clearly display the talents of the guys of NOFX. "The Death of John Smith", "Stranded", and "Remnants" are all very strong and driving punk rock songs that keep the listener on the edge of his/her seat. The guitar parts are great, I like to describe as a mix of old metal and classic rock, but a lot faster and heavier. Fat Mike's lyrics are very thought provoking and very witty. The only thing I don't really like is the song "kill all the white man," it's kind of funny at first, but I got sick of it very fast. The "Longest Line" is a classic pop-punk song that I couldn't help but love.

4 great tracks
if kill all the white men had not been on this ep then i would have give it 5 stars.there are 4 of the best tracks ever by any band, then the last one is such a let down.this is when nofx were in their prime..great stuff.

A Masterpiece
Wow, what can I say? All 5 songs are great, not 1 that is sub par. The Longest Line is a fantastic song, only second to The Decline, just wish it were a bit longer (as I do all of their songs). Can't go wrong with this CD, its great all around.

Great NOFX Album
I discovered NoFX at the tender age of 17 when I was in full blown teenage-angst phases coupled with the need-to-be-different deficit that most teenagers suffer from...;) Hence, NoFX with their fast, hard punk sound were perfect for my needs!

The longest line was released in 1992 on the Fat Wreck Chords label, and was (and still is) one my favourite of all their releases to date. Although only an EP, it really is NoFX at their absolute best!

The five tracks are superbly performed by the current NoFX line-up of Erik Sandin (drums), Eric Melvin (guitar), Fat Mike (bass, vox) and El Hefe (guitar). I saw them live last year in Manchester, at which Mike pointed out that their latest album wasn't as good as Punk In Drublic. Well I would be sure it isn't as good as this EP!

Overall this EP is a must for any NoFX fan, and a compliment to any collection of this genre.
