Buy this album
Hands down, this is the finest gospel rap CD the industry has ever produced. T-Bone, although always great, finally has a real handle on what the gospel rap ministry is all about, and delivers a Latino West Side punch that bumps like no other.

This is a must own cd. I thought that tha only hot rap cd's were the one wit dirty lyrics but i was wrong. I had been listening to Ja Rule, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Layzie Bone, and all tha other notorious rappers and i thought there wouldn't be a christian alternative. Well this is it. A christian MC straight out tha 'hood. You gotta Pick this album up. It's mad phat!

Okay, three years after this album came out I am trying to figure out why it got such good ratings. I first heard T-Bone on KRS One's Spiritual Minded, and he sounded pretty intelligent. After reading all these reviews it was a no-brainer to buy it off Amazon. On it's way would be my first gospel album purchace. WHOOPS!
Wow, how overrated is this. To think it was nominated for a grammy. You call this Christian hip-hop? This sounded to me like commercial-typical rap only without the expletives. I purchased this hoping this would uplift and move me in some way. If this is one of gospel rap's best albums, I will not purchase another. Sure he has a decent flow and can get insanely fast at times, but it is not used effectively. He spends so much time talking about the killers, drug dealers, and pimps in his hood, but doesn't ever offer how shallow that can be.
Plus, T-Bone doesn't really explain his faith or how we can practice ours and believe in ourselves. He usually just name drops God, or the lord, or the creator in the hooks and such maybe just so he can call this gospel. "Last Street Preacha" sounds way to familiar to mainstream rap crap with too many references to empty thug life and use of the weird voices that Snoop, Warren G, and Kurupt use in their so-called music. "Father Figure" was pretty good but I've heard much better deeper hip-hop.
I am an old school and underground hip-hop fanatic and that helped lead me to this purchase. Oh yeah, it's nice that he talks about killing his demons, but even taking a razor blade to one's neck even figuratively does not inspire me at all. Look to Blackalicious, Talib Kweli, or even Common or the Roots for way more uplifing modern hip-hop, not this phony. Sorry T-Bone you need to look to better sources from the past in hip-hop for inspiration in your music, or even your life. Ghetto life may be or may have been hard for you, if you even lived that way, but if you are doing gospel you gotta offer more solutions and describe the emptiness and chance of falire for those who simply just live the street life and don't even think to better themselves.
KRS-One's gospel album wasn't perfect or even his best, but it is way better than this overrhyped, overemphasized mediocrity.
Phenomenal talent spewing God's Truth and Love!
Truly God saves the best for himself! I cannot think of any rapper past or present, secular or gospel, who is in the same stratosphere as T-Bone. On "The Last Street Preacha" T-Bone is at his peak. Chase (the album's producer) is top notch as well, and I love the fact that he raps in English, Spanish, and Spanglish! More importantly, he boldly proclaims Jesus Christ's love and message to his audience. Bony-Bone Corleone, may God increase and set you in a large place!
Needless to say, this is a must-have album!
