Lace Reviews

Great music from a talented trio
Lace is Beverley Mahood, Stacey Lee, and Giselle. Corbi Dyann (the brunette on the cover) was an original member, but she left the group to pursue a solo career (I hope she puts out an album soon). Lace is a talented country trio of three distinct voices. No one is the lead singer, they share the spotlight. They have wonderful harmonies. They were put together by David Foster. The first song they recorded together was "Angel", originally done by Sarah McLachlan. Their version gives me chills. The first single from the album was the uptempo and fun "I Want A Man", about looking for real love, and a man they can't live without. The second single was the uptempo country tune "Kiss Em All", a fun song about just having fun and letting love take care of what's right. The third single was a song penned by Beverley Mahood called "True Love (Never Goes Out Of Style)", a nice ballad about long lasting love. The fourth single was the ballad "I Cry Real Tears", which had a great music video. The last single was the poignant "You Could've Had Me", which is my favorite ballad on the CD. It's a song about seeing someone you are in love with, being with someone else, and just lamenting how they could have been with you. Another highlight is the ballad "He Can't Talk Without His Hands", which was written by Giselle. It's a song about abuse, and it's a good story song. "Life Is Good" is another great song, written by Deana Carter, very positive. Other highlights include "If Not For Loving You". Check it out!

Love Lace's Sound!
This is a wonderful debut cd! Lace has beautiful harmonies. They sound a lot better than the Chicks and the Spice Girls for sure. Thank you so much Sandra for introducing me to the awsome sound of Lace! Its like the Girls Next Door reencarnated, only there are three singers instead of four. Totally awsome! I've added Lace's cd to my list of favorates. Its definately a cd I'll listen to for years to come.

Talented Trio!
Lace is a country trio which members include Beverley Mahood, Corbi Dyann and Giselle Brohman. They may be written off as a wanna be Dixie Chicks type group, but Lace is different. Whereas in the Dixie Chicks, Natalie Maines is the main vocalist and all members play instruments, in Lace, each lady gets a turn to sing lead on various songs on the album. Lace has nice harmonies and they chose some really good songs for their debut here. The first single was the tongue in cheek "I Want A Man", which had a great video, and was a huge hit here in Canada. They manage to do a nice cover of Sarah McLachlan's "Angel". "Kiss Em All" is a fun uptempo tune. I think the strength of the album though is in the ballads. "You Could've Had Me" is a poignant ballad about realizing that the other person has moved on, and lamenting about how they are missing out. "He Can't Talk Without His Hands" is a nice ballad with serious subject matter about spousal abuse. "True Love (Never Goes Out Of Style)" follows a couple through the years and how their love has lasted. The singles from the album were "I Want A Man", "Kiss Em All", "True Love (Never Goes Out Of Style)", "I Cry Real Tears" and "You Could've Had Me". Other highlights on the disc include the positive and uptempo "Life Is Good", and the album closer "If Not For Loving You". Beverley Mahood is set to release a new album titled MOODY BLUES in March 2004, and Lace is set to record a new disc for 2005 (although by now Corbi Dyann has left the group). Check this CD out and these talented female singers!

Same ol' same ol'
I liked this album the first time I heard the Dixie Chicks perform it. It was even OK the second time I heard it performed by Shedaisy. Get it? This has all been done before. While the members of Lace are arguably more attractive than their counter-parts in these other bands, they aren't offering anything original musically.

Lace...
