A Happy Band!
The first thing that comes across on this album is the band's happy mood. From "sunburst" right through to the bonus track, "bring the house down", Each song is a superb mix of dave browne's vocals combimed with great riff's and really great lyrics. There aren't many bands out there like picturehouse, really great listening!
Picture This!
I discovered this band purely by chance as they were playing a gig at a local pub. The musical style is a cross between the best of acoustic guitar bands. The tuneful melody's of Crowded House, the cheeky lyrics of Space and Cast, the meaningful and sometimes painful lyrics of Del Amitri and Tracy Chapman. The album has a good balance of ballards and up tempo pieces and rolls along like a Tour De Force. Stand out tracks include the uplifting "Sunburst" and "love In The Streets", and the more meloncholy sound of "Raining Stones".
This is Irish Acoustic Guitars at their best. An album that you should own. I would also strongly recommend their first album "Shine Box", by far the superior of the two.
This is an album which will make you realise how good old fashioned tunes and lyrics can sound!
