This is a HOT album
"It Takes A Thief" is Coolio's classic! It's been a while since I last listened to it but I remember thinking it was a masterpiece when I first heard it. The best songs on the album are Ghetto Cartoon, Mama I'm In Love Wit A Gangsta, I Remember and the radio-friendly Fantastic Voyage. This is hardcore Coolio, before he sold out with Gangsta's Paradise, this is how I best like him. His rhymes are always good and on-point. The beats are funky and take you back to the day... Anyway, this is a HOT album I recommend you buy this instead of any other Coolio album, this is definitely his best
fantastic voyage
fantastic voyage rocks, even though it's now a kinda old song (still one of the best though). the whole cd is old skool, and worth your $. plus, it's coolio's debut, so it's a must-buy!!
something to ride to
Coolio starts you on a ride with a remake of Lakeside's "Fantastic Voyage," complete with smooth gangsta lyrics and a catchy chorus. It works wonders on a boomin sound system. Besides that the rest of the tracks, most of them anyways, are worth a listen, specifically U Know Hoo with W.C. and Ghetto Cartoon. But Fantastic Voyage is the best of the album......all I gotta say is "slide, slide, slippity slide......"
It takes a thief to listen to this
Fantastic Voyage is the only good song on this excuse for an album. The rest of the songs are not even the least bit interesting. The other songs aren't even worth listening to. Unless you are Coolio's #1 fan, then don't this unless it's used for real cheap. None of the songs seem like "fantastic voyage" and that is what turned me off.
Better than the latest
Even though this album isn't very well known, I think it is much better than his latest album. I don't think "Fantastic Voyage" is all that great, but "Ghetto Cartoon" is terrific! Also, "County Line", and "Smokin Stix" are good. The one favorite track on this album is "It takes a thief", this track is brilliant! All of the other songs are okay, not great. If you thought "Gangstas Paradise" (the song) was good, look into this album.
The rapper's 1994 debut album features 16 tracks including the hit 'Fantastic Voyage' & the classic 'County Line'. Tommy Boy.
