Less rap please
To be perfectly honest, I have no solid opinion on Papa Roach's Infest. At times the radio catchiness will do well if I'm not looking for something blatantly intelligent or complex to listen to, as this is simply a good head-banging album for the masses. The rest of the time, however, the very pop feel of the albums MTV-friendly structure is exceedingly annoying. It's hard to find a common ground between these two, making this album only average. On the good side, Coby Dick's lyrics are honest and do more than just scream "Papa Roach in the house!", which at least seperates the group from the Fred Durst crowd. However, his voice can become very irritating, especially when he breaks into rap during each verse of almost every song, which is definitely something the band needs to cut out in order to polish up their sound.Unfortunately the band backing Coby Dick is only average with the exception of Jerry Horton, who creates some original and catchy riffs and can play a mean rhythm section over the bass and drums, which only do a mediocre job and never leave their simple rhythm playing. All this can become very boring to the listener who enjoys music other than what MTV churns out, but Papa Roach still has an undeniable trait that just seems to make me like something about them, although I'm not sure what it is.
Tracks which are listenable are "Last Resort", "Broken Home", "Dead Cell", "Between Angels And Insects", "Binge", and "Thrown Away", while the rest of the disc lacks the aggression of these other tunes. I have not yet heard their new album, Lovehatetragedy, but if Coby Dick can lose the rapping style and pick up more straight-forward melodies, as its obvious is possible, then Papa Roach could be destined for good things. If they stay on the rock-rap path that they're on now, they might just die off with the genre when it finally bites the dust. Hopefully they clean their sound up a little bit as it would be nice to see this band progress somewhere.
Good rock
This is a great rock album. I personally wouldn't call them a nu-metal band, their sound is much more consistent and exciting than what I usually see around these new bands. Highly recommended! Check it out
Papa Roach RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am one of the many real Papa Roach fans, by that i mean, i like all their music and ive been lucky enough to see them in concert, they were amazing and the concert featured songs from their first major album Infest and their second album Lovehatetragedy. Both albums are amazing! Both are worth getting, however they are both different. The first album contains more rap..which is great, (e.g Revenge, Snakes) and the hidden track after Thrown Away called Tight rope is amazing! At first i didn't recognize who it was by, because Coby sounds so different, the song sounds more melodic and its different to Papa Roaches usual style.I wont go through every single song on both albums, but Infest and Lovehatetragedy are 2 of the best albums i have. Here are some of my favourite songs on both albums:
Infest:
Infest-great opening to the album
Last Resort-their first single? An amazing song
Broken home-one of the best on the album
Between Angels & Insects-this song was sensational in concert
Blood Brothers-love the whole song
Lovehatetragedy:
Time and TIme again-so catchy!
Walking thru barbed wire-one of the best songs on the album
Decompression period-a depressing song that means alot
She loves me not-a funky tune lol with a cool rap part
Black Clouds-great again
Bonus tracks gouge away and never said it are great!!!
(Someone called josh said that he can't believe kids actually like papa roach and give it 5 stars, well maybe he should try spelling first :p nothin personal but p-roach rock, sorry if u can't handle the album-you should leave the real paparoach fans to rate it!) P.s PAPAROACH AREN POISON :P THEY RULE AND CAN ACTUALLY SING.
Great Debut
This album is a great debut album for Papa Roach, even though some songs like Snakes slows it down, songs like Last Resort, Broken Home, and Never Enough keep it balanced, the guitar work is a little scratchy at times, some songs, you can barely hear the guitar, like Broken Home at the beginning when it gets heavier, the bass kind of goes over it a little. This album is great and a must have for rock/rap fans
People actullie like this ?
Wow, I heard this album on the wall while it was just being release in the store and i laugh at how bad this guys truly are and these kids think paparoach has talent ? As if korn, staind, puddle of mudd (nirvana rip-off),flaw,slipknot,linking park , the new terrible sell out sounds of metallica, avril, are bad enaugh we also have paparoach.I mean, this just makes me wonder--how more worse can mainstream music, actullie get ? It's just sad that kids rather listing to this then to play real music from the heart! PPl actullie gave this 5 starts...I think they were just being nice. Don't buy it unless you like to listin to poison that these kids call music.
