BT has shaped the world of music in ways we cannot even know. This album, his first, was not really based on previous work by any artists. It is said that he made the music without knowing about trance or anything going on in Britain. The first cd is very good, but can get a little long, which is nice because the 42 minute remix by Sasha is pretty much a mix of the highlights of the first disc. Standout songs are "Deeper Sunshine," "Blue Skies," which features Tori Amos(!) on vocals, and "Divinity," which closes out the album in grand style. Over two hours long, its quite the mouthful at first, but it is a very promising piece of music, with excitement for both the first time listener and the long time fan.
Perfecto at it's best
Although my focus is mainly deep house music, the HousERaT can get down with the tranceheads also. Brian Transeau (BT) gets live with the Perfecto trance style that's earned him the title of "Second In Command." I've been digging this guy for some time now and his music still seems mystic and magical. I've also heard him mix up the trance/house on Radio 1, but this stuff here on his album is like nothing else I've heard. This is a two cd set so you get plenty of music for your money. CD2 also includes a 42 minute mix of the album singles by the one and only Sasha, so that alone should get folks interested in this. CD1 is not mixed but it has a nice set of trance/perfecto originals from BT. Cuts of choice are "Embracing The Future", "Deeper Sunshine", "Loving You More (BT's Garden of Ima Dub)", and "Poseidon." This is a mild trance sound that can easily be mixed with straight house music and the beats are kinda deep too. If you want to get away from house music for a little bit then try this on for size. BT doesn't disappoint.
The start of something big
This was the first album from BT, it's almost as good as his second. Most of the songs are dream dance and very pleasant. Sure he developed and made an even better work the next time but this album made a way for many other out there, just like Robert Miles did, BT also made a wonderful work here. Meliodic and deep songs, very diffrent from previous trance music released. "Noctural transmission" "Quark" "Embrace the future" and "Deeper Sunshine" are my favorites. The very long song "Sasha's voyage" is a masterpiece but check the song with Tori Amos "Blue skies" too, not one of my favorites but interesting. This was perhaps a little bit incomplete and could have been and sount even better but you'll know what was coming. If you like this kind of music, then yiu'll love this.
Beautiful album!
If I had to vote for best electronica album ever, I might give Ima the nod. Combining lilting melodies with righteous grooves, Ima warms your heart, while forcing you to shake your booty. The way it builds and fades is incredible in a subtle way, unlike the often overbearing transitions in so much trance music. The first disc isn't even mixed, yet the music flows perfectly.Despite the disappointment in his latest album, you really got to give BT props for giving us this masterpiece.

just had to give BT some props for a really good cd after bashing his new cd pretty bad. This is a classic in the eletronic music world and much better then any of BT's new stuff I've heard. mmfcl
