ALBUM: Hempstead High Lyrics By: A+ Enjoy Yourself Gotta Have It
Hempstead High Reviews Deffinetly not A +, more like a C - I'll put it simple: nothing new. A few good tracks: Boyz to men, Watcha weigh me, maybe Understand the game. A lot of commercial beats...little dissapointing. Most songs are shallow. But, overall, not that bad.Mediocre hip-hop After the enormous air-play that "Enjoy Yourself" got, this album was sure to end up in a few shelves. Unfortunetly, for all the people suckered into buying this CD, this album holds nothing fresh, and even worse than that: the same-old, same-old is mind-numbing. The producing by Kedar Massenberg is pure garbage. I'd call the music bad R&B, rather than hip-hop. The beats are more often off, than on. Not to say, that A+ doesn't have talent. He can rhyme, but he needed somekind of guidance rather than making a run for the money. With a good producer, this kid could've rocked big time. Too bad it went down like that. Although, check out the song with Canibus, "Boyz To Men", it's a positive exception on the album. Download it, do not spend your money on this album. The Album Is HOT!!!!!!!! I really like A+'s album and if I had to give him a grade, it would be an A+. When I listened to Hempstead High and then the Latch-Key Child I noticed that his lyrics were more bad words in Hempstead High and GOOD words in the Latch-Key Child. Even though he used alot of bad language in his new album, he's still Hot! I have his single CD and my Cousin has Hempstead High. Well wordz are getting short, Hope to see A+ on FANatic Soon.the disk is absolutely awesome, keep up the good sounds A+. Man, I have to say this disk was a bang. A very dramatic improvement from the previous one and I have to say s very enjoyable indeed.A+ sophomore album is straight! "Hempstead High" has some tight tracks. If you're in the mood for some light, infectious beats to bob your head to this CD is a must buy. There's not much in the way of serious social commentary but, for his age, he's got some skillz! This album definitely let's you know where his head is at. Young rappers have always been regarded with a cautious eye. Sure, rap has always been the music of urban youth, and to hear a dope underage MC rip the mic is always a joy. But when a young mic wielder starts rapping hardcore about drugs, guns, and stunts, it can border on the ridiculous. And, like child actors, young rappers always face their biggest challenge when they get ready to make the shift from youngster to adult--just ask Native Tongue sidekick Chi-Ali or Kris Kross. A+ jumped on the scene when he was only 13 and immediately made waves with his debut platter, The Latch-Key Child . With his sophomore effort, A+, now 16, keeps the thematics light and largely goes for a good-time party atmosphere mixed with bits of standard braggadocio. "Up Top New York" features the Lost Boyz' Mr. Cheeks, Canibus pops up on "Boys II Men," Erykah Badu guests on "Understand the Game," and "Watcha Weigh Me," a dark entry (and one of the album's stronger tracks), features MJG. Hempstead High is pleasant enough, brimming with solid rhyme delivery and a few funky beats, but there's ultimately just not that much to it. --Spencer Abbott
