No Jagged Little,Best CD since their '99 CD
I read all the reviews, and nobody mentioned that is has a Hip-Hop Soul vibe to it. What people fail realize on this review messageboard is that the music industry is seriously lacking Hip-Hop-Soul and Hip-Hop as a whole. This is definitely better than "Jagged Little Thrill"... J.E. was trying to get too crunk with the fast songs on that CD and I always skip the crunk uptempo's. The slow songs is what keeps the CD grounded. Here's the list of Hip Hop Soul albums of lately that I'm feeling:
1/2. Carl Thomas - "Emotional" (2000)
1. Amerie - "All I Have" (2002)
2. Sunshine Anderson - "Your Woman" (2000/2001)
3. Donell Jones - "My Heart" (1996)
4. Usher - self-titled debut (1994) and 8701 (2001); the Confessions CD should go take a nap.
5. Yvette Michele - "My Dream" (1997)
6. Soul For Real - "For Life" (1996) and "Candy Rain" (1994/1995)
7. Mary J. Blige - "Whats The 411" (1992), "My Life" (1994),
"Mary" (1999) [good comeback CD for her]
8. Faith Evans - "Faithfully" (2001) [good comeback CD for her career], "Faith" (1995) and NOT kEEP THE FAITH..THAT WAS HER WORSE CD (even though she had a couple of joints on it)
9. Davina - "Best of Both Worlds" (1998)
10. Leschea - "Rhythm & Beats" (1997)
11. the first Jill Scott CD (1999)
12. Angie Stone's 2001 "Mahogany Soul" CD
13. Frankie - "My Heart Belongs To You" (1997) [before Musiq Soulchild, there was Frankie...he told the Al B Sure vibe to the neosoul/hip-hop soul level - reminds you of a younger version of Musiq]
14. J. Lo - "That Was Me..Then" (2002) [everybody hates J Lo but this is her best CD and it was a Hip Hop Soul CD cuz she worked with mad NY producers] - I don't judge people's music and their personal life the same way so go figure.
15. Veronica Vasquez - "V..As In Veronica" (1995) and "Rise" (1997) [she got slept on crazily!!! Sounds like J Lo with vocal training -- she should be eating on that Boricua diva soul plate, not J Lo even though J Lo's last CD was bangin]
16. J. Quest - "The Quest Is On" (1995) [I'm trying to figure out if Frankie J. and J. Quest are the same artists with different names...because they are both Latino and sound the same when singing].
Definitely brilliant and very wonderful!
My favorite songs of JE are Promise and Goodbye... When I bought this album to keep on my collection another song went in my favs list, "They ain't JE", what a nice song!
And you'd probably be agree with me when I say: it's rare to see a CD with at least 70% of great songs, aren't you?
Well this CD is one of 'em, it's magnificant to listen to 'em again, you can't get tired of 'em and their voices, great beats and the money roll out for JE! :)
You like R&B and worthwhile albums that you could listen for months? Jagged Edge did it again for you!
They deserve a 5 stars easily and too bad I can't rate 6 stars.
Get this album you'll see... or you'll hear that they're great!
Keep it up JE!

Wow.. what a truly amazing CD. I got this CD knowing nothing about Jagged Edge, except the hit song Walked Outta Heaven. I am really not even a big R&B fan, but this CD would turn anyone into a Jagged Edge fan. They are talented and EVERY SONG is a hit. I found there songs to not only be vocally pleasing, but also emotional. I like this disc because every other word is not sex, hoes, drugs and weed. I have listened to this CD over and over again.... Jagged has a new fan!!!! A+++
All there songs are starting to sound the same. I loved there other three CD's. I don't know what happened.
Nice one again!
These guys are very talented singers. You can really tell that 2 members are brothers, their harmonizing is excellent and their first album was wonderful. Slow groves that really put you in a sensual state of mind, made you fall in love again. But this one, oh my, was so darn boring it took me three tries to listen to the whole thing in one sitting, I kept turning it off. Finally after I had heard the entire album, I was glad I got it free. These songs are truly dull. Sorry guys, you had a miss with this one. The second song on the CD "Walked Outta Heaven" is simply a remake of "Let's Get Married" from their first one. Same song, different words. The only song worth listening to "Tryna be your Man" is too short and although it's not good it's the best one.
Jagged Edges fourth album may serve as a harbinger of an early-90s revival. Back in the day, R&B harmony groups barely dabbled in hip-hop, with only minimal rapping heard on even, say, Boyz II Mens uptempo hits. Likewise on Hard, which makes strategic nods toward a hero of JEs Atlanta hometown (OutKasts Big Boi, who guests on "Car Show") and the currently reborn dancehall craze ("Girls Gone Wild" features toasting by the fabulously named Major Damage) but mostly just sticks to showcasing the quartet. In fact, the title track doesnt boast about the guys relative street toughness, instead noting a nearly lost opportunity for love. Most of the tracks here fit into 2 or 3 slots: happiness in love, love lost, or clubbin. That, as well, seems like an echo of an era passed. --Rickey Wright
