Manowar's best album
This is a great recording. Every song except one (Each Dawn I die) is fantastic/great. Its extremely rare to find a recording with so many top notch songs. The vocals are very powerful and clear. Bridge of Death is arguably the best song which starts slow and deep and then gets real heavy. Manowar did a great job of poking fun of satanic heavy metal in this song. This recording ranks as one of the best of all time in heavy metal.
Another letdown, but improving
This, Manowars third album, is better than Into Glory Ride, but Manowar still seems to be struggling to find their place in the metal scene. With songs pertaining to Satanism, they come across like any other band of the time. Still, I actually liked Bridge of Death, minus the silly Satan thing. For me, Manowar will always be about battle, conflict and victory. And this albums first song, Blood of my Enemies shows what Manowar is really capable of (even though it still pales in comparison to songs from Kings of Metal and on). The rest of the album comes across as much of an extension of Into Glory Ride. Rushed, chaotic songs that sound horrible. There is no power, no majesty to these songs, and while it is most likely worth listening to just to hear Eric Adams vocals, if you're not a die hard Manowar fan like me who has to have every single recording, don't bother with this... Get Kings of Metal or Triumph of Steel.
THE GREATEST ALBUM OF THE GREATEST BAND
Hail, Brothers of Metal!
This is, in my opinion, the most criative and pleasurable Manowar's album. There are epic/sword-and-sorcery songs, satanic songs, a instrumental song and a exaltation to the Manowar's fans! Everything a Headbanger wants from a Heavy Metal album!IT IS HEAVY METAL PURE AND DISTELLED! ENJOY IT!
Another early classic from Manowar!
I bought my copy of "Hail To England" back in May, kind on an impulse purchase really. As you can tell from my other reviews, I am a fan of Manowar and have many of their CDs. I wasn't particularly looking to buy a Manowar CD when I went into the local music/video/book place, but I saw it on the shelves, I'd heard good things about it, and I AM a Manowar fan, so I bought it. This is an example of one of those purchases that I have not regretted since.
The music on this CD has a raw, primal feel to it. It's kind of like they took the best songs from "Battle Hymns" ("Dark Avenger" and "Battle Hymn," to be exact) and built on the foundations of these songs, distilling the sounds and intensifying the lyrics. The result is awesome! "Blood Of My Enemies" could almost be titled as "Battle Hymn, Part Two," as the song structures of both songs are very similar. "Each Dawn I Die" is an intriguing track; I like the unique drum beat and Eric's vocals are nicely utilized here. "Kill With Power" is a definite Manowar staple. The title track is an early example of just how majestic Manowar can be, simply an awesome song. "Army Of The Immortals" is a tribute to all the dedicated Manowar fans of the world. This is one reason Manowar is so cool, they are definitely loyal to their fans and aren't afraid to show it! "Black Arrows" is another awesome display of Joey DeMaio's killer bass playing. I can understand how "Bridge of Death" could be disturbing to some. But let's face it: if you are a fan of Manowar, you should know that these guys are not for everyone. I for one think the song is great musically, a logical way to cap off the CD. As a whole, "Hail To England" is another classic from Manowar, and as such it should definitely be added to any Manowar fan's collection.
A Classic Heavy Metal Album
Manowar's 1984 release "Hail to England" is indeed a masterpiece, while bubblegum ... pop floods the airwaves,it's nice to know that I can reach for this cd."Blood of my enemies"
and "Kill with Power are killers,as well as every other track, even "Each Dawn I die"...Unfortunately,many still don't appreciate the glory of this particular song.Give it another chance. It's got great metal rythym, and Eric Adams uses that same low tone he uses in "Warriors of the World".Death to False Metal.
