Ghetto Love Reviews

Amazing
I'm a 38 year old AA woman. When I first heard of Jaheim, it was the song REMARKABLE which is featured on the movie BAIT's soundtrack. I loved his voice. Sort of ol skool, like Teddy nd "Lutha" (Luther). So, I went out on a limb and bought this cd. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! Although I am not a fan of rap and/or ghetto lyrics, this cd has so much more to offer. The soulful croonings of this up and coming artist will definitely take you back to the day of when R&B was NOT manufactured. This cd stays in my player in the car. Track 12 till the end is the bomb! (that's what my kids say!) I definitely recommend this cd to the young and the old. Yes, he can use a little fine tuning, but he's only 22 and this is a debut. I'm looking for good things from this young man in the future. Go out, buy it! You will not be sorry. I sure hope he makes platinum, he deserves it!

Whoa, talk about strong vocal chords!!!!!!!!
"Could it Be" grabbed me by the ear like you would a child in need of discipline and made me pay attention. This man can sing!!

The ladies (Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, N'Dambi, and India.Arie)have been putting it down as of late. How very refreshing and welcoming to hear strength, power and intensity in man's voice.

Oh how desperately we've needed a man with strong vocals seperate from the styles of D'Angelo and my man Maxwell (neo soul-which I'm a massive fan of). This brother is singing soulfully, oozes power, demands you to listen. A song that gives you a good taste of such is his duet with Terry Dexter as well as Ready Willing and Able.....Whoa Jaheim, I'm ready too!!

My only suggestion is that he ease up off the ghetto fab lyrics and rise up on the more profound lyrics that his voice was apparently put here to deliver. That'll provide Jaheim longevity, I promise.

I agree with reviewer landa324 are we beginning to see a trend of people who can sing? Man I sure hope so.

Jah, you've got it brother. Let's hear some passion and some love in those lyrics, ADULT style.

Jaheim- Ghetto Love
Jaheim's a talented singer and he showed this at times on his debut "Ghetto Love" (2001). Blessed with a soulful voice, Jaheim delivers the goods on early tracks like "Looking for Love" and the hit single "Could it Be". Jah then excels on the title track "Ghetto Love" a memorable smooth love song. Not really feeling some of the midway tracks, thankfully things pick up. "Anything" is without a doubt my favourite track on this album, Jaheim and Next hook up for a powerful love song, one that will echo in your head. Its a real track about love and giving everything you have for the one you love. The mellowed out "Waitin' on you" feat. Miss Jones flows through nicely as does "Remarkable" feat. Terry Dexter. "Ready, Willing & Able" is a deep slow jam with an oldschool feel to it, while "Love Is Still Here" is a short track about lost love. One of the last tracks Jaheim drops is called "For Moms", a tribute to his mom who past away. "Could It Be" (Anything You Want Remix) finishes off the album on a fastpaced upbeat note. Jaheim delivered a strong debut album with this release and though there is some filler, a number of standout tracks make "Ghetto Love" an album I recommend for R & B fans. 3.5.

Jaheim - Ghetto Love
Obviously, this guy can sing and his voice brings me memories of Teddy Pendergrass. I would have never thought he would be singing about such juvenile material as representin', being ghetto, and dealing with no-good tricks. Some songs are deplorable like "Little N***a Ain't Mine" but he makes up for them with beautiful tracks like "Anything". Still, how believable can you be if you're an R&B artist acting hardcore? His second album is the same way. On your third one, Jaheim, use your powerful voice for good instead of evil.

HE IS THE MAN!!!!!!!
JAHEIM IS THE MAN WITH A SMOOTH VOICE BOTH OF HIS CD IS VERY NICEGOOD MUSIC TO LISTEN TO.BUY IT YOU WILL LOVE IT.GO SEE HIM YOU WILL LOVE THE SHOW HE PUT'S ON.
Fans of tried-and-true gutbucket R&B have much cause for joy this spring: there's a new crop of down-home, take-no-prisoners love-men and -women in town, and leading the pack is Jaheim, a roughneck Romeo from New Jersey. Signed to ex-Naughty By Nature DJ Kay-Gee's Divine Mill imprint (and with production mainly by Mr. "Hip Hop Hooray"), Jaheim's tender-but-tough sound harks back to Teddy Pendergrass: just listen to the sexy moan that kicks off the single "Could It Be." Not even remotely shabby. As this debut's title indicates, Ghetto Love overflows with rough-hewn odes to romance on the raw side of town. In this case, that means songs about giving as much love to one's niggas as to one's bitches, denying paternity, and rhymes about Hennessey. It might look clichéd on paper, but Jaheim is skilled enough to transcend trite truisms. On the smoky "Looking For Love" and the finger-snapping "Let It Go," he earns his stripes, making his mark with a taut CD that has an old playa's soul and a new jack's swagger. --Amy Linden
