THE ABSOLUTE SUMMIT !!!
if i could i'd ascribe it 10 stars. "Full Collapse" is a masterpiece that runs 20 years ahead. i mean, common, just admit it, first listen to the music itself - it is FENOMENAL, of which rhythm changes make you close your eyes and feel the angry sadness that we all know is all around as but is so hard to express. Thursday can do it. then absorb Geoff's vocals, honestly expessing deeply imbedded emotions that literally bring out awe-chills. and finally contemplate the lyrics, so amazingly mysterious and once you grasp them, totally truthful. their debut "Waiting" is also tremendous, such is live EP "Five Stories Falling", check out "Jet Black New Year", ooooh myyyy goood...... the BEST hardcore song ever written.
for the last couple of months, a day couldn't pass by without Thursday in my CD player. but beware, it might be dangerous as for time consumption, because once you press "play", you CAN'T STOP!
if you heard like 2 or 3 songs out of this album, and you're not sure what the rest's like, DO NOT hesitate. ALL the tracks are absolutely awesome. you couldn't possibly mistaken them for another band, they're undoubtedly "thursdayish".
Full Collapse
This cd introduced me to Thursday and they are now one of my favorite bands. This cd is jam-packed with instant hits, but all the tracks grow on you the more you listen to them. Here is a rundown.
1.A0001-intro
2.Understanding in a Car Crash-10/10-amazing, first Thursday song I heard.
3.Concealer-7/10-least fav, with so much emotion, this song doesn't take you as far as it should.
4.Autobiography of a Nation-9/10-Sweet intro.
5.Hole in the World-8/10-Sweet ending.
6.Cross Out the Eyes-9/10-With songs like this, its hard to beleive Thursday stays relatively underground.
7.Paris in Flames-9/10-the buildup and ending gives me chills every time.
8.I am the Killer-11/10- fav.song., the chorus is so awesome.
9.Standing on the Edge of Summer-10/10-the slowest song, and it works so well.
10.Wind Up-9/10-Catches me off guard every time.
11.How Long is the Night-10/10-over 5&1/2 minutes of bliss.
12.I1100-10/10-I wish this song lasted longer, but it is a perfect closing track to a perfect album.
Just buy it.
Love it or Hate it...
Ok i LOVE Thursday. They are as of now my favorite band and will be for a VERY long time, mainly because i cant get Devision St. (From the album War All of the Time, and i highly suggest it) out of my head. Out of the whole CD there is only 1 song that i dont like to listen to. (but i still really like it, its just not as good as the other songs on the CD.) The reason why you might not like this band is because its really emotional and sometimes dark. Thursday simply expresses their emotion through yelling and raw lyrics. But all in all i love them because what they say is soo true, and the way they say it isnt comparable to any other band out there... well maybe Taking Back Sunday. So if you like Taking Back Sunday, then you'll like Thrusday.
This cd is awesome
If you dont like this cd, then you are absolutley crazy. Because let me tell ya.. this cd is so incredible, the lyrics are so awesome. Thursday is my favorite band, and I think you should definetly buy this record because the lyrics are so incredible and amazing.. its just awesome..So basically buy this cd its great.
Not for everybody
I purchased Full Collapse earlier today, and I have to say: Thursday's sound is not for everybody.
That being said, the album is filled with dynamic intensity and wrought with emotion. It is true that the lead singer sounds vaguely like Robert Smith (of The Cure) though I think Thursday takes a slightly different approach to their music.
There is not a truly uplifting song on this cd, but if you don't mind taking an artistic leap or hearing some angst-ridden screams, this cd is excellent.
With their latest release Full Collapse, Thursday have created a sound that is unparalleled and unequivocally their own. Although still a young band, they write with the sincerity and insight of a band twice their age. Their music is a cathartic whirlwind of rhythmic melodies and heart stopping time changes that are unified amongst lulling vocal harmonies and besieging wails. Thursday can mesmerize their audiences in a way no other band in recent memory has been able to do.
