Enemy Of The Music Business Reviews

i'll keep this simple....
let me put it to you this way. cryptopsy, the crown, the hellacopters, entombed, radiohead, high on fire, dying fetus, electric wizard, unified theory, cephalic carnage, afi, nevermore, pantera, a perfect circle - the list goes on and on. they all did one thing: put out a great album in 2000.

napalm death - enemy of the music business. a better album than any of the aforementioned groups released. not only the best record of 2000, but one of the best metal records ever. hands down. no questions asked.

absolutly incredible. don't skip over this masterpiece.

let me begin this review...
by saying that I am certainly no rabid fan of the 'Death. In fact, if the truth must be known, I usually detest death metal records.

However, I do approve of this album. I believe that my approval is worth more than that of other reviewers because I am sceptical in this area. The indication of the greatness of Napalm death first came when I recieved a free heavy metal compilation album. It is not really necessary for me to say that this was mostly UTTER t*ss. However there was one salvegable track, Necessary Evil by Napalm Death. This is a truly astonishing and brilliant track. It features superb vocals(especially on the chorus) and truly astonishing music. It has a superb riff and a vaguely indusrtrial edge.

Unfortunately, nothing quite matches this song. Necessary Evil alone gives the album two stars, the rest is for the astonishingly powerful (but never ham-fisted) music and excellent lyrics (when they can be made out!)

This, I believe, will be the album that turns me on to a great band, and may even make the previously unloved and unloving genre of Death Metal into one whose records I can listen to and take pleasure from. Let us hope so...

In True Form
"Enemy of the Music Business" is an aural bashing of pure anger...nearly a perfect mix of blast beats and brain shaking grooves, though I prefer the latter. Barney Greenway continues to prove why he is the undisputed champion of the chainsaw vocal style. His voice alone is worth buying this album, not to mention the songwriting, which is absolutely top-notch. If you think you have heard heavy music, but haven't heard Napalm, give this one a comparison test. Napalm Death is one of the only bands I am SURE will never sell out, as evidenced by the title of this release. If you do try "Enemy" and like the slower segments, I suggest "Words From the Exit Wound" or "Inside the Torn Apart". The faster stuff can be heard on "Fear, Emptiness, Despair" or anything prior. This is another brutal and brilliant release as expected, from the greatest grindcore band in the world.

This band is consistently excellent
Every Napalm Death album seems to have the luster of a band that is just starting out. Unbelievably, each of their albums seems to be better than the previous. It is evident that so much time was put into every track on this album. How they do it is beyond me. Not respected by many in the industry probably for no other reason than their name sounds violent, this band will be looked at by future generations as nothing short of brilliant. One more thing: I grew up listening to bands like Sepultura, Slayer and Metallica. These bands and basically all bands like them haven't put out any decent material in over ten years. I guess what they say is true: Money changes people, and bands. Certainly this cannot be said of Napalm Death. Bravo. Please don't buy this album. I want to keep this band to myself, that way maybe in another 15 years they will still be putting out stellar material.

The Public Gets What The Public Doesn't Want
Most people have never heard of Napalm Death, probably never will and that's why this cd will have no domestic release in the US. This cd finds Napalm in top form. Barney is amazing as always, Danny Herrera is simply a machine on the drum kit, and Shane Embury displays why he is one of the best bass players in the world today. All fake metal heads should turn tail and run right now because this music is just too hard for your tastes (i.e. Slipknot, Deftones, Korn). Compared to other Napalm releases this ranks among the best, although I still like Words from the Exit Wound and Diatribes better. Some great songs on this cd though like Next On The List, Volume Of Neglect, Cure For The Common Complaint, and (The Public Gets) What The Public Doesn't Want. This is light years better than any other metal on the market today. Do yourself a favor, ball up and buy this cd, Napalm Death are the only true innovators left.
2000 album release for the fathers of grindcore. Produced by Simon Efemy (Pantera, The Wildhearts, Pitchshifter). Their strongest effort to date, a mature cross between the best moments of Utopia Banished, Harmony Corruption and the newer records. No domestic release is scheduled through the end of October. 2000 release. Standard jewel case.
New Simon Efemy Produced Album. Latest Release after the Mini Covers Album.
