Doro's last American attempt
After disbanding Warlock, Doro went on to release two solo albums available in the states. At the time I bought this album (on cassette) it was all I listened to for weeks. This is a great album from start to finish. 'Rock On', 'I Had Too Much to Dream', and 'Something Wicked this way Comes' all should have been singles on the radio. But this album didn't make any waves so back to Germany Miss Doro went where she is popular, adored, and successful. Just like Motorhead and Iron Maiden, Doro is a European treasure that was never really understood or embraced here in the states. So why then can't a talanted and sexy singer in a metal outfit make it in the states? I think it's because for the most part Americans are wimps. They'll listen to bubblegum crap like Britney Spears and other no talant hacks, but when it comes to real singing and real beauty, America folds. So if you want a singer with a voice as strong as Pat Benatar and music as hard as rock, then you need to introduce yourself to the world of Doro.
Rock On, Doro!
Doro's second album is much like her first one, Force Majeure. The first track is also ballad. I can only wonder who beautifully she can sing. This is a very touching love song! The second track "I Had Too Much to Dream" and "Rock on" are full of rock and roll. Tracks are absolutely suberb! They offer good moments for everyone who like good hard rock music. "Only You" is an excellent love song! It's amazing really how much we can love somebody that we only think one person. It has happened also to me, so this track really touches me. The fifth track, "I'll Be Holding" is one of the ballads Doro has ever made. It has good lyrics like in "Only You", same kinds of. "Something Wicked This Way Comes" is a really angry track. Doro screams very loud. Unbelievable! "Rare Diamond" is a perfect ballad. It's like the same theme which was in "Only You" and "I Had Too Much to Dream" would continue: "I'm Searching for a Rare Diamond, I've Been Looking for You, Try to Find Those Deep Feeling, So I Can Share With You". "Broken" and "Alive" are romantic real hard rock songs. "Mirage" is a fantastic track. There is good backing choir. They sing very good!
Doro is my favourite female vocalist and this is one of my favourite albums. This Warlock's former vocalist has made other good albums also during the years. Check them out!
The Queen of Metal
This CD like all Doro and Warlock is just absolutely ass-kickin' metal. That's the way it is, this is not for the weak, or for the timid. And if you want more, then check out something a little different from Doro, Love Me In Black, which is her latest release. Once you listen to Doro, you will never be the same, and you will never get enough......
Hard rocking Euro-metal
If you were a fan of the 80's band "Warlock" then you'll naturally be a fan of Doro. Why? Because Doro Pesch fronted that band before going the solo route. The same headbanging Warlock style is here along with a few of Doro's signature ballads. Her version of the Electric Prunes "I Had To Much To Dream Last Night" is my highlight. As is her version of the old Kiss song, "Only You". No surprise there, as this recording was produced by none other than Kiss bassist, Gene Simmons.
not a hit but great
