FLY AWAY WITH MARIAH!
Mariah's evolution, this became the first album of Mariah to be purely R&B and Pop, with great results!, sadly it was lost by the time "Rainbow" came, all the tracks are nicely produced, "Honey" produced by Puff Daddy and many others, this has great lyrics and music!, "Butterfly" amazing ballad, great message, awful video, "My All" great guitars!, great message, and lyrics, "The Roof" nicely sweetly voice, "Fourth Of July" little bit anoying!, "Breakdown" favorite!, great lyrics!, great joint!, "Babydoll" wow, sadly this is not as good as I thought, because if Missy produced it, it was good, but NOT, this is boring and a big big filler!, "Close My Eyes" should have been a single, great song, what about the voice, is sounds like angels!, "Whenever You Call" classic Mariah sound, "The Beautiful Ones" written by Prince, slow sexy joint. "Outside" great closer! amazing song. This album is a great mixture of ballad and R&B, Butterfly guided fans to a new Mariah that could direct her career in a more fun way, far away from the Whitney esque. Will be a great addition to your collection.
Very Nice
This album is a natural evolution of Daydream, as Mariah once said. I don't know if it;s becouse she finally got free of tommy that this album was so good. Lyrics, Music, production. 1. Honey - Nice Up tempo, great production. 2. Butterfly - I like this ballad, but her voice at the beggining is too dramatic. 3. My All -Great hit ballad, #1 song. 4. Roof, The - Her first "real' HipHop tune. Great. 5. Fourth Of July -The poorest song on the cd, copy of Daydream's "Underneath The Stars"6. Breakdown -Creative, great lyrics and melody. 7. Babydoll - Sensual, mellow song. 8. Close My Eyes - deep song 9. Whenever You Call - typical romantic ballad 10. Fly Away - (Butterfly Reprise) - dance mix of butterfly 11. Beautiful Ones, The - features sisqo, too long 12. Outside - outstanding ballad. great lyrics, melody, production, voice.
Buy the Japanese Edition 14 Tracks in all!!!
I've got the Asian of Japanese edition in this case and its so much better. To conclude the album, there are two remixes of HONEY. Both you won't find on a Single release. They are 13)HONEY (SO SO DEF REMIX) and 14)HONEY (DEF CLUB MIX) both good tracks ot level the album which has a lot of ballads on. But still one of my favortie albums from her until now. Give it a try your choice.
Best Mariah CD ever...
I've heard all the Mariah CDs, with the exception of "Charmbracelet", and I believe that "Butterfly" is her best one, ever. On this CD Mariah was in the middle -- not quite that slow-moving adult contempo stuff, but not yet the trashy hip-hop collabos she attempts in later albums. Mariah retains a sweet mix between ballads and mid-tempo songs on this CD. "Honey" is one of my all time favorite songs, and "My All" has that sweet, Latin soul feel to it. "The Roof" was one of the first good hip-hop feel songs she did, and "Breakdown" is wonderful. On this CD, I can't say there's one song that I mind listening to. (Some, like "Close My Eyes", I'd rather not, but if it's playing I don't HAVE to turn it *shrugs*), and "The Beautiful Ones" is an insightful song from real life and yet not whiny. Like I said -- best Mariah album!

Trust me you will love every single song on this CD, Mariah Carey is one of the best female artist in the history of the world so don't miss out! Buy Butterfly today!
Carey's first post-divorce effort makes passing allusions to her ex-hubby (and label honcho) Tommy Mottola, but it doesn't dwell on them the way many similar projects do. Instead, Carey is right back to her old tricks; cooing trademark melismatic spirals through sexy, beat-heavy hits. Fans will dig the bedroom slink of "Baby Doll," the dripping "Honey" and the infectious title track (reprised, along with a bit of Elton John's "Skyline Pigeon," in "Fly Away"). The highlight is a duet with Dru Hill on Prince's "The Beautiful Ones," which just might be her most pointed commentary on Mottola. --Michael Ruby
