Banana Wind Reviews

my favorite buffett disc
The first time I listened to this disc after buying it 3 years ago, I hated it. But as I listened more, it grew on me and I now consider it to be my favorite of all Jimmy's works. I love the island sound and Jimmy pulls offa nice switch in tempo from the slower, country sound that he reverts back to on his newer CD, Beach House on the Moon.

It's impossible to put any one CD by Jimmy in place among the 20 - something years of music he has made, and every fan has their own particular favorites that don't jibe with other people's, but for me, "Only Time Will Tell" ranks up there with "Cowboy in the Jungle" and "One Particular Harbor" as the best individual songs Jimmy has made.

Buffett's best cd of the 90's!
Have you ever noticed that each and every Parrothead has their own ideas of which is the best Jimmy Buffett CD? I see a lot of people give this cd bad reviews and I totaly disagree. I love this album, it is my favorite cd to listen to when I just want to relax. I really like the songs -Only Time Will Tell-, -Jamaica Mistaica- and -Overkill-. They have that "island-type sound" that has made Jimmy what he is. I don't see how any Parrothead can actually say that this, or any of his other CDs are bad. I have been a huge fan of Jimmy since the early 90's (not too long, huh?) but, I have grown to love each and everyone of his albums for what they are. They each present a different story somehow. I guess I am just amazed to see the real old Parrotheads who have been with Buffett as far back as the 70's, turn around and say that some of his CDs are not good. Well, all I can say is this cd is amazing, just as good or better than all of the rest of his CDs. Buy it, you shouldn't be dissapointed. And, don't miss his concerts! He is totaly amazing live...

Great CD!
If you like Jimmy Buffett, you need this CD!

Liked it so much I might just buy it again
I bought this cd, originally at goodwill. Recently I lost it. Well I liked it so much I am thinking about actually buying it full price! I usually listen to radio or vinal from good will, so I think that is saying alot

Jimmy's Best CD of the 1990's
I have been a true Buffett fan since the late 70's. This is a fantastic CD filled with a variety of great stuff.
But if for no other reason, you should buy this CD for the song False Echoes. This song is a tribute to Jimmy's dad who passed away in 1995.
Plain and simply stated...If you are a Buffett fan, you must own this CD!
On this release, Banana Wind, Buffett continues in the light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek celebration of the beach-bum lifestyle that has made him a hero to tens of thousands of his "Parrothead" fans. Combining country-rock and calypso into his signature sound, the singer-songwriter advises all of us caught up in the rat race that we need to "take a holiday, grab a pack, and hit the trail, take a sail, and wind up in some moonlit bay." Early in his career Buffett was able to re-create the tension of everyday life before he released it with considerable gusto in a sun-filled fantasy. These days, however, he seems so out of touch with ordinary lives that he can't build much tension at all, and as a result his songs are so laid-back that they never quite get off the mat. --Geoffrey Himes
