VERY UNIQUE BLEND OF DIFFERENT GENRES
Wow! AFI's style having different elements of goth, punk, and hardcore in it makes AFI leaders of a new genre of music. Yea it is only 4 songs BUT it is worth the money. I first got into AFI when I heard their song "The Boy Who Destroyed The World" They do a really nice cover of Misfit's "Halloween." I rated this CD 4/5 stars is cuz their could be a couple more songs on this release.
Four Songs Worth Buying
The music on AFI's Halloween-themed EP blends brilliantly with Havok's profound lyrics. When first reading lyrics to the songs on this CD, you may think that the band views their surroundings in a miserable fashion. However, the music on this CD is completely unique - it is so wild and charged with atmosphere that you will see the lyrics from a different aspect, though I cannot describe the resulting sound. The first song, 'Fall Children', is a cover of a song by the Misfits, originally called 'Halloween'. The music switches between several moods during this song, opening quietly, introducing the words a little more loudly, then reaching a very dramatic level at the chorus; it continues to alternate these moods all the way to its peaceful tinkling at the end. The second song, 'Halloween' (not related to the Misfits' song mentioned above or AFI's version which is on this CD), is pretty much dramatic the whole way through. 'The Boy Who Destroyed the World' is a good song which I note mainly due to the lyrics, a perfect example of Havok's great skill at writing. The last, 'Total Immortal', you may recognize: this song was recorded by The Offspring for the soundtrack of the movie 'Me, Myself, & Irene', but AFI were the original writers and recorders. It is the loudest and heaviest song on the CD, which is one reason I like it so much. The other reason is its lyrics: they show the amazing poetic side to this band. Overall, I would say that all the songs on this EP are some of the best AFI songs I have ever heard. This CD is great for any punk rock fan or any person who is just looking and is interested in AFI.
All Hallows E.P.
This E.P. is great! It has a cover song origionally from the misfits called Halloween. AFI started out as a Mifits tribute band and then about a decade later, they are punk legends. This e.p. fuses the old school punk sound (Ramones, Dead Kennedys, G.B.H.) and the later punk sound (Bouncing Souls, The Casualties,Rancid) to form one true hard core punk e.p. Enjoy...
One of the best E.P.'s of all time!
I was completely blown away after hearing this mind-shattering E.P. I'll admit, I am one of their newer fans, but I fell in love with their music after hearing Sing the Sorrow, another amazing A.F.I. release. My personal favorite song on this E.P. was a cover of the classic Misfits song, Halloween. If you don't already own this E.P., GET IT! It's only 6 bucks!
AFI is actually good?
i couldnt believe that this is done by the same band that did those crappy emo songs. this EP is proof that AFI used to be a good EP. im ashamed to say that AFI is good.
Includes the original version of 'Total Immortal', which wasrecently covered by Offspring for the Jim Carey movie 'Me Myself & Irene', along with 'Fall Children', 'Halloween' and 'The Boy Who Destroyed The World'. Standard jewel case.
Four Tracks Including a Misfits Cover.
