ALBUM: A Thought Crushed My Mind Lyrics By: Blindside Across Waters Act As You Walk In The Air Of Truth King Of The Closet My Mother's Only Son Nothing But Skin Nära (Close) Silver Speak Vow Of Silence Where Eye Meets Eye
A Thought Crushed My Mind Reviews A THOUGHT CRUSHED MY MIND not as good as first cd BLINDSIDE i have been a fan of blindside since hearing their song SUPERMAN from their self titled cd BLINDSIDE.i do have a few questions though for them on their new cd A THOUGHT CRUSHED MY MIND,why did you change your sound?you guys never left my cd player for a month strait, and i buy alot of cd's.but your new cd is kind of monotinous only a few songs sound really good, and like another reviewer said the production is not top notch.your old sound is so much better, why did you change..it still boggles my mind.you are talented but this new cd is a step back instead of forward.your melodic hardcore from your first release was absolutley amazing.but your new cd is hard,i will give you that, tracks like NOTHING BUT SKIN,KING OF THE CLOSET,NARA,and MY MOTHERS ONLY SON,are the only high points.if you want really good BLINDSIDE music,go but the self titled cd BLINDSIDE if you want some of the old -school scream -a-thon hard core go for A THOUGHT CRUSHED MY MIND,and if you like really psychotic hardcore go buy TRAINING FOR UTOPIA's new cd,THROWING A WRENCH INTO THE AMERICAN MUSIC MACHINE.BLINDSIDE ROCKS I think That Blindside is an excelent band. I saw them live and imediatly bought there cd. If you like Rock/Metal/Christan then this is a band for you. I would also recomend the cd Silence. This would be a good Christmas gift for a rocker :)it definently grows on you When I first heard this album, I thought it was one of the worst albums this band has put out. But after listening to About a Burning Fire multiple times, I really got a taste for this album. I really like the raw energy they show on this album. I especially love the cello they use on various tracks. Most Christian music out there isn't bad, don't get me wrong, but lacks the intensity that non-secular music has. I can proudly say that Blindside is one of my favorite bands and that this is one of their best albums. Although all four of their albums are absolutely amazing in their own respect. Each album they put out has a slightly different sound to it. Which makes me like them more, because why would I want 2 albums that sound exactly alike. I think people should embrace the change of a band instead of just saying they sold out. This is their heaviest album they have, but if you want their deepest album, get About a Burning Flame. Overall, great band, great record. Get all four of their recordings. The message they send is a true Christian message even if they don't say the word "God" a hundred times through the album. Just listen to the lyrics on any of his albums and try to say they aren't Christian enough. Anyways, I'm rambling, so basically, don't sleep on this band, very awesome stuff. Any of their albums are a great starting point to this band. Please enjoy this band.Blindside is awesome I think I haven't heard a band like Blindside yet around they are so unique in their sound it's just great and I am happy about the results too of "About a Burning Fire" even that is kinda different from "A thought Crushed My Mind" it is that damn good!!! check their new cd it just came out (today) "About a Burning Fire"Four and a half stars for blindside's best I am an avid listener of all of Blindside's music. This is decidedly the most beautiful, passionate, gut-wrenching, and innovative of Blindside's albums. It is the album that gained the attention of reviewers and establishes Blindside as a potential, devastating force to establish a new realm of heavy rock/punk/metal what-to-call-it?!!. Silence, while a good album, only shows they can also conform well to popular standards. Their real art is right here. This is not a first-listen album! It is, in the words of disappointed reviewers, "screamy." The guitars are thick, more than the comfortable power chords people are used to, the harmonies, phrases, and meters are very untraditional. They will switch between 4/4 and 6/8, throwing your ear for a loop. On "Where Eye Meets Eye" there is even a section in 9/8! The sound is raw, the vocals are loud, passionate, and beautiful. The use of strings in several of the tracks, especially cello is especially impressive. At first listen, "A Thought" sounds like an unrelenting, noisy mess. But acclimating yourself to the havoc is certainly a rewarding experience. A handful of the tracks, "My Mother's Only Son," "Nara," "Nothing But Skin," "As You Walk," and "King of the Closet" stand out among the rest, but all contribute something of a punk/hardcore artfulness to the whole album. I listen to Silence regularly, the self-titled now and again, but A Thought Crushed My Mind is the album I return to most of all, especially for catharsis in moments of angst. Nothing I've heard, outside an orchestra performing the beautiful, despairing modern works of the likes of Shostakovich, can quite compare. This album is most suited for those who are young, not easily queazy, apt to stray far from the pop fold, used to loud guitars and screaming, and ecclectic in their approach to music. For everyone else, including fans of Silence, enter at your own risk.
