A Brand New Subdivision Reviews
not to shabby
This cd really surprised me. The sticker said sounds like thrice and saves the day. Well i thought that could be a good combination. But as i listen to the album; it sounds nothing like thrice and very little like saves the day. It more like story of the year but with more talent. This cd has some great breakdowns and great hooks. Not the most original cd i've ever heard but if u want good emo than this cd is for you.
Proving that there is more than nose jobs and betrayal in the OC, Southern California's next success story, serves up their new album "A Brand New Subdivision" on upstart label, The Death Scene. In just over two years Halfwayhome has quickly carved out a spot in their respective scene. Their debut release "Let's Start This Over" was released through fellow Orange County label Criterion Records, also the home of Big Blue Monkey. You may know them better under their current moniker, Story of the Year. Summer 2002 saw Halfwayhome on two weeks of the Warped Tour, quickly building a stalwart fan base city by city. With continued touring the band was able to share the stage with bands such as Finch, Story of the Year, Thursday, and Sugarcult. Jump to March 2004 and Halfwayhome enters the studio to produce what is undoubtedly their finest effort to date. Titled "A Brand New Subdivision", it is a fiery album filled with one hook-laden song after another. Their tales of growing pains, personal loss, and memories of better days will grab you and burrow their way into your heart.
